60 Years of Christmas Ships

One of the Portland area’s most endearing events, held every December, is the annual Christmas Ships Parade. For the past 60 years, thousands have flocked to both the Willamette and Columbia riverfronts to view the colorful – and at times entertaining – procession of boats.  You can, too! Just bundle up, put on your scarves and mittens, bring something warm to drink and join the festivities – December 5-21 – for lights, holiday music and water.

To learn more about this holiday tradition, or for a schedule of events, go to the Portland Christmas Ship Parade website. Starting Friday, December 5th, as the season officially begins, nightly weather alerts will also be published on that site, as well as on their Facebook and Twitter feeds.

Ho, ho, ho and happy holidays to all!
