I'm an avid dinghy sailor, just graduated from college (Lewis & Clark) where I captained and raced with the club team. Sail theory, race strategy, and basic navigation have carried over well from small to large vessels. Stoked to be learning my hand with these barnacle bottoms.

I have experience on sailboats and grew up around/on them but I would not call myself intermediate but not quite a beginner. I have experience sailing small 2 crew FJ's. I have also crewed on larger cruising sailboats (not racing). I love being on the water and would love to help crew. I have no trouble taking direction and am quick at moving around on the boat. I have a positive attitude and love meeting new people and making new friends.

I'm as green as it gets as far as sailing is concerned. It's a skill I've always wanted to acquire. I'm a determined hard working individual and will take any job thrown at me with a positive attitude and a willingness to learn.

Hello! my fiancé & I are searching to join a crew to get some sailing experience. We are in our early twenty's & have little sailing experience. We do however have a dream, to live on a boat. If anyone has any advise for us, or are in need of some fun crew mates feel free to email us. :) Happy Sailing.

Last summer was my first season with OWSA, and I loved it! I've taken the skipper class though ISC and have crewed on the Columbia 15 times. In OWSA, I got a quick reputation for the nice spread of snacks I bring ;-) My schedule is flexible as long as I know of an event about two months prior, although I sometimes have luck on shorter notice. I'm good and sturdy (albeit petite, which I've found to be handy on a boat), nice to talk to, especially about PacNW nature, and calm both under and over pressure. I have experience, but not so much that I'm stuck in my ways over yours. I'm punctual and will take excellent care of your vessel and equipment. I'm hoping to have some fun adventures and make friends sailing anywhere, and I'm local to Portland.

Hi! I just moved to PDX this week. I've been racing for the last four years now. I've got four distance races on a T10 under my belt, including one Mac. I've also done weekly buoy racing on the following: R19, T10, and J/70. Looking to crew on a regular basis.

I have sailed for 15 years and share ownership of a 36' Jeanneau. I have sailed multiple times in the San Juans. I have sailed offshore from Tacoma to San Francisco. Last fall I sailed from Boston to Bermuda. En route we encountered Force 9 winds and lost steerage. There were only 3 crew and one was debilitated with sea sickness. We managed the emergency and I drove the boat for several hours.

I have a complete set of foul weather gear including harness, tether and rescue beacon.

I have no racing experience, but follow instructions easily. I am interested in the Oregon Offshore Race.

I'm interested in the Oregon Offshore. I regularly crew on a J-33 in Bellingham and occasionally on a J-36 in Blaine. My experience includes several long distance races (and deliveries) as well as the weeknight CYC and Bellingham Yacht club series. Long distance races included Round the County, Pt. Roberts overnight (BYC) and several one day laps around varous San Juan Islands.

I'm on the high side of intermediate but inexpert in tactics and rules.

I'm interested in getting some experience offshore and would be willing to do a delivery with a Salish Sea boat even if a spot on a race crew wasn't available.

I can likely be available on short notice if you have a crew member that cant make it at the last minute.

Have done short day sails about 2x per month for a year in Santa Monica Bay (Merit 25). Sailed the San Juans in 2014 or thereabouts (Catalina 34). I have basic sailing understanding but am rusty since I do not do it super regularly. I am a quick learner and am happy to step up. For cruising, am also happy to cook. I have a regular 9-5 job so cruising must be planed well in advance, weekend races and day sails can be arranged within a week or so.

Thanks,
Brian

I began sailing with an ASA Basic Keelboat course last summer, and I have continued to practice sailing primarily by renting Club 420's from Willamette Sailing club whenever I can. I'm looking to meet people in the sailing community, gain experience on different types of boats, and to improve my skills! Any opportunities to get out on the water are much appreciated!

I've sailed all my life and owned ocean cruising boats for nearly 50 years. I'm 70 and in very good health and physical condition. I live in Kailua-Kona HI and would like to crew on yachts passing through the Hawaiian Islands, either back to the mainland, or south. I've sailed/raced extensively in the South China Sea (multiple crossings from Hong Kong to the Philippines and return). I've also crewed and skippered trans pac crossings from the Pacific Northwest to Hawaii. The latest on my Cape George 36 in 2010. The boat was returned to the Seattle area in 2011 and sold. I now spend nearly every day on the water paddling/racing 6 man outrigger canoes, but miss sailing and ocean passage making.

I'm beyond the point where I want to spend unlimited time on the foredeck, but have ample experience on the helm, trimming, navigating, cooking, etc. I

I'm a trained shipwright with hands- on experience managing emergency mechanical issues on a vessel: rigging, hull/deck repair, plumbing, basic electrical.

Ahoy,

I am a younger but very well practiced sailer looking to find a larger boat to crew for. I grew up with a childhood full of sailing, and after a short racing career on small boats, found a passion for instructing sailing at higher levels. I am a US sailing level 1 & 2 sailing instructor, and during the summers work as the programs director for a community sailing center in Seattle. The rest of the year I spend in Eugene studying at the UO, but I am able to travel to wherever the harbor may be to sail. As I said, I am looking for a larger vessel to do some more serious racing on. I spent a little over a month cruising the San Juan Islands on an old Cal 25 I had bought, and have become incredible comfortable with big boat mechanics and maintenance. I am looking for a crew that will get after competition, but also take a loss with laughter. I would also be interested in other cruising or transportation gigs. Happy seas!

I have been living on and sailing my 25ft sloop for 11 months. Most of that time has been spent out of the marina (I despise marinas). I am trying to sell my boat asap and begin crewing (cruising) as much as possible. I am open to not coming back to Portland or the United States for that matter. I am a Riverswest member and have built my own dinghy there. I am not a professional shipwright but have a general knowledge of boat construction and repair and have a compact toolbox. I should have my boat sold and be ready to go sometime in April or early May.

I've always been interested in sailing and hope to someday sail the coast all the way to Argentina. Unfortunately the closest I've ever been to a sailboat is while reading the pages of Joshua Slocum's book "Sailing Alone Around the World". I grew up in Iowa so all the sailing I've ever done is while my eyes were closed driving the combine...

I'm Mechanically inclined and can learn quickly. I have experience in technical trades as I'm a Commercial Pilot and Scuba recreationally. I've read a few sailing fundamentals books and can tell you what a leach, luff, tiler, boom, and jib are... Now I just need the opportunity to apply my knowledge.

Thank you!

I'm looking to find a crew that needs a hand for Oregon Offshore so I can do my first offshore race.

I've been racing for 2 years and sailing as an adult for 3. I grew up with a Laser in a sailing family - many things came back to me quickly once I began skippering. I skippered my own Cal 25 in Seattle's Duck Dodge the past two seasons where I'd routinely come in the top third of my start, with no handicap corrections. I've had her out surfing during small craft advisories and have cruised her as far as the San Juans, Port Townsend, and Anacortes a few times.

In the beginning of 2016 I moved to Hawaii and raced there at least twice a week for 6 months. I crewed primarily on the J/35 Addiction, where I was a trimmer and worked pit. I backed up on main and helm when needed. I also sailed on the Hobie 33 Mayhem and raced on Kaneohe Bay on the J/80 Mojito. I sailed between Oahu, Maui and Lanai twice and also crossed the Alenuihaha to Big Island, each time manning my own watches.

In September I purchased a J/35 which was modified extensively and have been living aboard while modifying her for distance cruising. I raced her in Sloop Tavern Yacht Club's Race Your House where we took first in our start and first overall for the nonflying class. We corrected out to be 6th out of 53 overall - despite there being mostly cruisers we did beat a -18 rated boat outright, for what it's worth.

I just finished US Sailing's Safety at Sea course.

I'd appreciate the opportunity to meet a Skipper who needs a hand for Oregon Offshore. I'm willing to come down to Portland for a few practices tho I'd need to coordinate transit and lodging. I work remotely so I might not just be limited to weekends. I'd love to talk with you and see if I'm a good fit.

I'm a dinghy sailor looking to race more keel boats. I have a decent amount of experience racing dinghies and coaching Lasers and high school sailing. More recently, I've been racing Thistles the past few years (triple-hand dinghy with a spinnaker). I have some experience with Merit 25s and J105s. I want to jump in with a competitive boat in a one-design fleet and be part of a team. I am not interested in sailing with a skipper who is a screamer- sailing should be fun and yelling makes it stressful!

I can sail some Sundays until the evening series starts and then open to either Tuesday or Thursday after work. I'm also into doing regattas. I work up by the river so getting there on a weeknight is no problem.

I'm a relatively recent transplant to the PNW looking to get out on the water. Most of my racing experience comes from Michigan. Was on the college sailing team for 4 years (Western Michigan University) sailing 420s and Lasers. Have a lot of big boat experience on Lake Michigan racing around the cans and distance races, including 5 Chicago-Mackinacs. Mostly foredeck on keel boats but can bounce around. Have done a lot of hobie cat/F18 racing as well. Most recently was racing in the Miami Etchells fleet for 2 seasons in the Jaguar Cup. Looking to do some racing in Portland, will do pretty much any position, I'm just happy to get out on the water and hang out. Currently 25 years old, 155lbs, and in downtown Portland. Airline pilot is my day job. Looking forward to sailing on the Columbia!

Hello! I live in Tacoma Wa and Im on a racing team here. The boat I regularly crew on name is Gardyloo. I have been with them over a year now and we have a pretty heavy schedule but I would love to get out your way some. We also travel as a team to Long Beach race week and also Whidbey Island race week. I also crew for a all women's race in Long Beach once a year. I have only be doing this for 2 years that is why I put beginner. I have two certifications in ASA 101 and 103. My normal position is Mast. Im 5ft tall and 140lbs. Thanks!

Experienced in cruising, no experience in racing but would like to learn (hence beginner experience rating). Sailed dingy's (mostly Sunfish) growing up and had a Newport 27 that I day-sailed regularly (2-3 times a month) until a year ago when family decided to get rid of the boat for a larger one in Seattle. I skippered the Newport on several occasions, and could single-hand the boat in light winds. Sailed the Newport 27 from Seattle to PDX as well with my father. I am eager to learn and calm under pressure.
Looking to learn how to race, relaxed environment preferred to start as I learn the basics of competitive sailing. Any boat size ok, will sail in any safe weather. Available anytime other that Wednesday evenings. A racing series or regular sail schedule is preferred. 6'3", 200lbs, athletic (regular runner and surfer). Have own gear and life jacket. Would love to race Oregon Off-Shore.

I just completed the National Outdoor Leadership School course in New Zealand that spent 15 days teaching the basics of keel boat sailing on a 35' sloop and I am looking for a chance to learn more and keep up the skills that I was taught.

Hello, I've recently returned from Virginia where I was able to sail for the first time in some races. I have minimal experience and I'm looking to learn as much as possible. When I was in Virginia I crewed with a Lightening and a Inland 20 Scow. I wasn't able to sail a Laser, but they definitely caught my eye and I'd love to sail one. That being said, I'm open to crew for any type of sailboat. I'm hard working and I believe I would be a great asset to any crew who is willing to teach me. Thank you- Rae (Rachel)

Most of my racing experience is from Charleston, SC. Since moving to the PNW I've been consistently racing and this summer I purchased a Dash 34 (Laurie Davidson Design) and am getting her race ready for this Spring. I recently completed my USCG Captains Training at Flagship Marine in Tacoma with Capt. Skip Anderson (Including the Sailing Endorsement, Towing Endorsement and the Marine Radio Operators Permit). I am looking to crew on boats in offshore races and will also be able to help deliver the vessel back to her port of origin. I'm 6'2", 185# and fit. I take direction well and I'm drama-free.
