The CGRA is a non-profit, volunteer-run organization dedicated to promoting the sport of sailing in the Columbia River Gorge by providing professionally managed regattas for regional, national, and international competitors and learn-to-sail opportunities for the local community. Founded in 1996 by a group of Northwest sailors who saw the potential for Cascade Locks to become a worldclass sailing venue, CGRA has since hosted more than 60 major sailing events, including most recently the 2011 ISCA Collegiate National Championships and 2011 US SAILING Singlehanded Championships. The CGRA is committed to performance sailing and has earned a reputation for excellence in regatta management. CGRA’s events draw close to 1,000 participants and their families from all over the world to the Gorge each summer. In addition to hosting regattas and training clinics for competitive sailors, CGRA offers a popular learn-to-sail program for kids in Cascade Locks and the surrounding area. We also conduct an ongoing fund raising campaign to improve the sailing facilities and activities in Cascade Locks and welcome the assistance of donors and volunteers who share our vision for quality sailing programs in the Gorge.
