You’ve tolerated cold and rainy weather, both light and heavy winds, and you’re just itching for some great sailing. Take heart, it won’t be long as the 2014 sailing season will be upon us, beginning in March with both the start of sailing classes and the first official race of the season – the RCYC Frostbite Regatta.
Whether racing or cruising, learning or teaching, it takes resources to make our sport more enjoyable – funds, time and crew. Teamwork is key for most of us and finding the right people – the right mix of people and skill – can make for an outstanding season filled with many good times.
Don Finkle, RCR Yachts, recently wrote an article in which he shares his view on this very topic. Whether you’re a skipper or a crew member, it’s a good and valuable read. Check it out online: Those Ugly Four Letter Words, January 23, 2014, Scuttlebutt Sailing News.
And if you’re a skipper looking for crew, or crew looking for boats, the Crew and Boat Lists on SailPDX are a great resource for both. Information on sailing instruction and upcoming presentations and courses can also be found on the site, as well.
