SYSCO’s Twilight Evening races for this Tuesday or Thursday are on a bye week, due to the club’s scheduled Delta Cruise this week. Regular series racing will resume again next week; however, if you’re not cruising, come out instead for some wet fun in SYSCO’s Short-Handed Soaker Races!

NOTICE OF RACE
INVITATION: SYSCO extends an invitation to all sailboat skippers to compete in this fun race on the Columbia River between the I-5 and I-205 bridges.
DESCRIPTION: This is a single race held the evenings of Tuesday, July 31, and Thursday, August 2. Boats will race short-handed as follows:
1. Single-hand – All boats under 24 feet (e.g. Cal-20s, Ranger 20s, Catalina 22s, Venture 21s).
2. Double-hand – All boats 24 to 30 feet (e.g. Martin 24s, J-24s, Merit 25s, Melges 24s, PHRF, and Cruising)
3. Triple-hand – All boats over 30 feet (e.g. J-105s, PHRF, & Cruising).
Additional crew are permitted to be on a boat being raced shorthanded to serve as rail-meat or ballast as long as the extra crew does not hand, reef, steer, or touch a control line. Additional crew members are permitted to fire supersoakers and water cannon at other boats in their class after the starting signal.
ELIGIBILITY AND INSTRUCTIONS: Races shall be governed by the Racing Rules of Sailing, OCSA General Sailing Instructions, and supplemental sailing instructions posted on the OCSA Event Notice Board. The series is open to all boats sailing in a one-design, level, cruising, or PHRF classes; all entrants shall comply with the rules governing their class or fleet. A minimum of three boats is required to constitute a level fleet or one-design class. PHRF entrants must hold a current PHRF certificate. All entrants must be current OCSA members.
DATES AND TIMES: First warning signal is 1830.
Tuesday, July 31st: PHRF, Level Fleets, and Martin 24, Merit 25, J/105, and Melges 24 one-design fleets.
Thursday, August 2nd: Cruising Fleet classes, and J24, Ranger 20, Cal 20, Catalina 22, and Venture 21 one-design fleets.
REGISTRATION: Registration on sailpdx.org; indicate class preference (Level, Cruising, PHRF, or one-design fleet). The registration deadline is 48 hours prior to the first scheduled race. Late registration may be accepted up to 1830 hours on the day before the first scheduled race with a $30 late fee in addition to any required entry fees. Otherwise, no late entries will be accepted.
FEES: Free for all who register before the registration deadline.
COURSES: The OCSA General Sailing Instructions and Courses will be used and are available in the OCSA Racebook.
TROPHIES: No trophies will be awarded.
