Laminated 2020 OCSA Course Charts are $2 each and will be available at the SYSCO Fleet Night, the OCSA Race Management Clinic, and the CYC Pray for Wind event (more details for all three below), as well as any time at Portland North Sails and the Hayden Island West Marine.
We would love to include all crew in our eBlasts! Please share this link with your crew so we can include them. Addresses collected will never be sold or used for anything other than OCSA communication purposes.
UPCOMING EVENTS
SYSCO Fleet Night is coming up on Tuesday, Feb 18 (at Willamette Sailing Club, 6:30pm social, 7-8pm meeting). Bring cash, cause there will be pizza slices for sale, as well as OCSA memberships (with 2020 OCSA Racebooks) and course charts! This social event opens the racing season by giving the fleets a chance to gather and figure out who will lead each fleet for 2020. There will be a short presentation highlighting the need-to-know changes in OCSA Racing Instructions and a few other odds and ends, as well as a guest speaker from Tidewater Barge. Everyone should try to make it out to this!
About a week later, also at the Willamette Sailing Club, we will be hosting the OCSA Race Management Clinic on Saturday, Feb 29 10am-1pm with guest speaker Gregg Bryden, the first 2-term SYSCO Race Captain! All fleet captains, race captains, and volunteer PROs are encouraged to attend, however everyone who is interested in sailboat racing are invited to attend this free workshop. We’ll have one additional hour this year to go over what Race Committees need to know to run races. This workshop is more important than ever, since most clubs no longer are hiring a paid PRO to make the important decisions and need YOU to make the proper call! Pre-register by emailing your interest to commodore@sailocsa.org so we can be prepared for the number of attendees.
Rigging Seminar
Finally, the CYC Sailing on Sunday series has been extended 2 weeks to conclude with the (in)famous chili cookoff at PYC on March 15. The weekend prior (March 8), also at PYC, is the CYC Pray for Wind party. Like last year, the event will be an exposé featuring local sailing clubs, foundations, and fleets. Hopefully it will bring the wind for 2020!

Join Schooner Creek Boat Works for a complementary Rigging Seminar, February 22nd!
Also, if you are interested in an exciting, in-depth boating safety course, check out the in classroom (seminar) version of the popular online boating course.
This beginner boating class, held February 23rd, will give you the knowledge needed to obtain a boat license or safety certification in many states. Many boat insurance companies will offer discounts on boating insurance to boaters who successfully complete About Boating Safely.
