Marine Weather Course

An American Sailing Association (ASA) Marine Weather Endorsement course is being offered Dec 7th & 8th through Passion Yachts. The Marine Weather Endorsement course provides an excellent way to expand your knowledge and skills, while increasing your safety on the water. This class will help you understand and demonstrate the proper use of weather information in planning and adapting navigation during local and passage-making voyages, using both the latest technological tools, as well as traditional maritime skills to forecast weather conditions.

Course overview: The ASA 119 Marine Weather Endorsement teaches the practical application of both atmospheric science and oceanography as they relate to sailing. You’ll gain a fundamental understanding of weather and its interaction with the sea. You’ll also learn about squalls, fronts, storms, atmospheric pressure, and global wind patterns–and how they influence the planning and execution of your sail, whether you’re traveling locally or globally.

Who should take this course? Anyone who ventures onto the water will benefit from this course–whether you’re a dinghy or tall-ship sailor, racer or cruiser, an offshore, river or lake-bound sailor. Everyone will expand their knowledge and find merit in this class. There are no prerequisites for this class. Click here for a detailed syllabus.
