The sailing season is well underway and so far the weather has been more like July than early Spring! Following are the upcoming events you won’t want to miss.
The first of the revamped Beer Can Races is the Island Sailing Club Pirate Night Beer Can Race on Saturday, May 18. Dress up as your favorite pirate. After the race, head to The Deck for a post-race costume party. Registration is not required – just show up at 5 pm. Details are here. Help bring back some crazy fun to the Portland sailing scene and come out for several of this summer’s Beer Can Races.
The Portland Yacht Club Rose Festival Regatta is Sunday, June 2. This one-day regatta is a qualifier for the OCSA Participation and Performance Trophy. Come out for a pleasant afternoon of sailboat racing. For more information or to register, click here.

Start assembling your armaments for the ISC Water Guns Beer Can Race on Saturday, June 8. After the race, dry off at the post-race party at Island Sailing Club at Tomahawk Bay Marina (end of D dock). Details here.
The SYSCO Single-Handed Beer Can Race is on Saturday, June 15. Test your mettle in single-handed racing. After a first start for the less courageous boats, the second start will be for single-handed boats. Gather your fleet mates or skippers from similarly-matched fleets and create some exciting boat-to-boat competition. Post-race social at the Sextant restaurant. Details here.
The Rose City Yacht Club Medium Distance Race is Saturday, June 22. This is a one-day regatta with a single race covering 12 to 15 nautical miles. Enjoy food and drink at the post-race social at RCYC. For more information or to register, click here.
