OCSA Tropical Awards Party

Please join the Oregon Corinthian Sailing Association to celebrate the 2022 Racing Season. Everyone is welcome! Feel free to invite landlubber friends and kin. The OCSA Tropical Awards Party will be held Saturday, Oct. 22^nd, 5-10 pm at the Portland Yacht Club. Share all your sailing stories after a 3-year Covid delay. The evening includes cocktails, a chef’s special Hawaiian Buffet (veggie, vegan, and meat entrees), awards, and dancing. The bars will be open to purchase extra drinks and, for you OR State & U of O fans, the game will be playing on the big screen in the PYC bar!
Tickets: $35 can be purchased at this link.
Dress Code: Tropical.
Reservations deadline: Saturday, October 8.

2022 OCSA Awards Nominations

All sailors are welcome to submit nominations. OCSA membership is not required to nominate. By submitting nominations, you are entered into a drawing for a Free Ticket to the Tropical Awards Party. The winner will be reimbursed at the party. 

• GOOD TIMES: The sailor who always seems to have had the most infectious good time
• WELCOME SLOUGH: A new sailor who has put forth extra effort to be involved in the sailing community
• US SAILING SPORTSMANSHIP: Awarded to the individual who has exhibited corinthian sportsmanship both on and off the water
• SAILOR OF THE YEAR: This trophy is for the individual that has gone beyond the call of duty in their contributions to the sailing community

Call for Volunteers

OCSA is a volunteer-run organization. Some of our volunteers in the Portland sailing community have more than 30 years of contributing their time and energy with OCSA, SYSCO, PYC, CYC and other racing clubs. In order to put on races and events that we all enjoy, specific positions need to be filled in order to keep our races going, including organizing, planning, running the races, website management and so many other roles.

We are looking for volunteers to step in as Board Members, as well as volunteers to help out with various tasks throughout the year. Most of us have skills that can be transferred into specific roles supporting YOUR sailing community. Please consider contributing your time (short or long-term) and lending a hand to continue making Portland Racing possible. Distinct short-time assistance to Broad Visionary positions is open. Corinthian Yacht Club of Oregon (CYC)

SAILING ON SUNDAYS
September 18 – March 5 /1300 hours each Sunday

INVITATION: This is a “for fun” race series on the Columbia River. New sailors and racers are especially encouraged to join.
DESCRIPTION: This is a multiple-week series with one race scheduled each Sunday. This casual race series was started as an excuse for sailors to get out on the water through the winter months. The event has attracted a variety of racers and cruisers who all share a desire for sailing and light-hearted competition.
REGISTRATION AND FEES: $50 entry fee to help defray the cost of Regatta Network fees. All competitors are expected to volunteer on Race Committee for one Sunday in the series.
INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS: Amendments or supplements to the NOR and race results shall be posted on the SailPDX Notice Board. Other information and communications shall be posted on the Sailing on Sunday Google Group. For questions or more information, email the CYC Race Captain.
