The Corinthian Yacht Club of Portland (CYC) is pleased to announce that registration for the 43rd annual Oregon Offshore International Yacht Race (OOS) is now open!
DESCRIPTION: The Oregon Offshore International Yacht Race will challenge your sailing and tactical skills, navigation ability and endurance. Taking place over 193 NM from the mouth of the Columbia River, up the Washington coast and through the Strait of Juan de Fuca to Victoria BC, this race continues to be a terrific and fun way to transport your boat north for the Swiftsure Race, for other Washington and Canadian sailing events, as well as summer cruising.
DATES: Thur-Sun, May 9-12, 2019. A pre-race kick-off party will be held Mon, April 15th (location and time, TBD), with the Skipper’s Meeting scheduled on Wed, May 8th at the Rogue Ales Astoria Public House with raffles, a party and good fun, as always!
ELIGIBILITY AND INSTRUCTIONS: Each registered yacht must have a current PHRF-NW certificate, except those intending to race in the cruising class. Yachts must also meet the Oregon Offshore Safety Equipment Requirements as outlined in the Notice of Race; qualifying Safety at Sea seminars can be found at the US Sailing website.
AWARDS: Presented for winning boats at the annual post-race BBQ on Sun, May 13th, at the beautiful Royal Victoria Yacht Club.
REGISTRATION: Click this link to register, check out who’s registered, view the Notice Board, or email CYC’s Race Captain for more information.
New in 2019 is the addition of the Cascadia Cup, created to encourage participation in both the OOS and Swiftsure races by awarding a single trophy for the best cumulative finish in the qualifying events.
Which boat, skipper and crew will enjoy the honor and bragging rights of earning this award in its first year? It could be you!
