PNWO Update

It’s time for an update on the Pacific NW Offshore Race! Registrations have been open for about 10 days, and even with some COVID uncertainty, we have four registrations with another ready to pull the trigger and a sixth special entrant as soon as we can sort out some SER details (no hints, but watch this space). The boat pulling the trigger is a second double-hand boat. We’ve been working with the  Pacific Northwest Shorthanded Sailing Society and have created a double-hand division, which I believe is a first. We need three boats to make it stick, so if you have the hankering to try real offshore sailing DH or need it for a qualifier, head on over to the CYC Pacific NW Offshore website to register.

Speaking of the website, we’ve been doing a bunch of updating including information about our finish partners the City of Port Angeles and the Port Angeles Yacht Club. Go check it out where you can register, volunteer, book moorage, find a hotel, etc.

Speaking of the virus in the room, we want to make it absolutely clear that, even though we have not published Covid guidelines for the race because, in part, the regulatory and healthcare landscape is changing so fast, we will establish protocols and procedures as we get closer to the race. Our Board is committed to a safe race in all aspects. We’ll use this email tool to keep you all in the loop moving forward.

That’s enough for now.  Look for these updates every week or so.

Stay safe. Be optimistic.
