Things to consider.
I love sailing.
I'll be 75 this coming February.
I haven't crewed for a very long time. The last time was in the late 1970's.
Up until about a year ago I sailed a Hobiecat 18.
I will have to equip myself if chosen.

I am a very eager beginning sailor, having completed 101 and 103 ASA. I would love to learn the ins and outs of racing from those with more experience. Quick learner, reliable, and love to be out on the water.

I have experience on the following classes of sailboats: J44, J105, Figaro 2. (A few weekends sailing a laser over the winter.)

I was on the offshore sailing team in college competing in regattas across Long Island sound. As well in Annapolis at the Naval Academy against teams from across the country.

I am interested in crewing on vessels and learning new skills. Also networking and meeting new people.

Hi there, I'm looking for a spot on a Sailing on Sundays boat for this "off season season". I can make most days except right around the December holidays, rain, shine or sleet (although if the decks are icy I may bow out!). I'm pretty happy on the water, be it a drift race or 10g25.

I've been sailing on the Columbia and occasionally the Sound for 6 years off and on, and racing about half that. I've done Sailing on Sundays both winter and summer versions, and both Tuesday and Thursday races as time permitted. Boats I've raced on ranged from 24 to 40', and I feel like I'm getting better at most things including spinnaker trim. My remaining challenges are spinnaker takedowns and calling puffs consistently, but I'm working on it.

I'm also gearing up to start racing my own boat, so I'm interested in all aspects of crewing.

I sailed competitively in San Diego for three years and ran the retail section of a rig shop while I was there. We moved to Portland seven years ago and I would like to find a less competitive way to get on the water. I work on Sundays but If that sounds good let me know.

I’m an owner of a Nauticat ‘33 since Aug 2020 and a Hunter 24 prior to that. I sail very regularly on the Columbia but just one motor cruise from Anacortes to PDX. I currently live on my boat and am looking to get experience coastal sailing and blue water with experienced captains and crews. I’d also be happy to crew for race boats. My intent is to skipper my own boat on the Inside Passage in a year or two and more later.

I’ve taken ASA classes and am a skipper for the Oregon Women Sailing Association Wednesday night sails.

I’m a very healthy, fit, and active 60 year old retired Army aviator and soon-to-be completely retired federal employee (Jan 2025).

I’m very reliable, low key, easy to get along with, and a fast learner.

I’m confident in my sailing skills but have much to learn and am eager to do so while getting practice experience.

Thanks!
Dan

Hi there,

I am new to sailing, having started doing Wednesday night sails with OWSA in June 2024. I love it and am eager to learn everything I can. I’m willing to work in any position as a crew member - and more than happy to be a substitute to start.

While I don’t know everything about sailing - here’s why I think you might enjoy working with me: I have a “can do” attitude and am not afraid to jump in and work hard. I’m fairly fit, strong, and have good balance on a boat. I stay calm under pressure, or in moments of emergency. I have a sense of humor and can get along with just about anyone. I’m focused and pay attention to what I’m doing (I’m not someone whose attention drifts off or who needs to be reminded to do my job).

Overall, I’m looking to learn and would love to chat with anyone looking for permanent or substitute crew for this winter.

Cheers!

This is my first season sailing. I took the OWSA 102 course this spring have gotten to do cruising with OWSA and some racing and cruising otherwise. I have a lot to learn, I appreciate direct feedback, and get along with almost everyone. I have my EMT and Wilderness First Aid certifications. I enjoy racing and am excited to expand beyond the Columbia.

I've sailed intermittently since i was a kid - small boats like Sun Fish and later in my teens and 20's larger vessels (like tall ships.) After a 15 year break, I'm back to it, and welcome any opportunity to sail. I have completed my ASA 101 and 103 and am now just looking to get experience on different vessels with different crews. I'm interested in both racing and cruising. I have a positive attitude, take direction, and learn quickly. I also work per diem, which means that with advance notice, I can take time away for longer voyages.

I'd love to sail more…whether racing or cruising.

Certified ASA 101, 103, 104 @ Passion Yachts and been crewing on Tuesdays on a winning Merit 25 for two years. Consider myself a beginner but have experience trimming and working the foredeck including the s-pole.

Easy going but competitive, professional by day, mid-40’s, 230lbs, 6ft 2in, fit/strong, and quick/balanced on my feet. Aka weighty rail meat!

Have a flexible afternoon/evening schedule and live in NoPo.

A’ok with BIG wind and cold. Will bring delicious snacks for cruising and drinks for after racing.

Thx!

Love being on the water and have been sailing recreationally every summer for the past 10 years. I’ve crewed on about 20 different types of vessels from 19’ - 50’ both on the west coast and east cost. Took part in a 100 NM offshore race on a J130, 2 seasons as foredeck on a J24 in and crewed in beer can races on an Islander P40.

Hard worker, fast learner, work well with others. No experience racing, but have cruised a bit, taken a sailing course, and have a dinghy that I sail as often as able. Wide open schedule ready to be filled up with practice and races (or anything that gets me out on the water and learning). Early 30s, 5'11", 170 lbs. Eager to learn more about the technical side of sailing. Mold me into whatever position. Look forward to hearing from you!

Hello,

I have about 175 hours of sailing experience that includes a basics 1 sailing course at Portland Sailing Center, a one-week bareboat charter with an experienced captain in the Sea of Cortez, and most recently, I completed and passed my ASA 101, 103, 104 certification courses in the San Juan Islands. I also participated as crew on a Merit 25 that unfortunately is no longer racing on the Columbia. I am 65 years old, but consider myself fit for both racing and cruising. My goal is to learn more about sailing and ultimately own and/or charter a 30-35 ft sailboat to sail in the San Juan and Gulf Islands. I am available almost all summer and am willing to sail in the fall and winter, but have travel conflicts between October and February. I'd be happy to provide more details if you think I might fit as crew on your boat, and can provide both local references and a reference for my ASA courses if helpful.
Thank you!
Bert Boyer

Hello, My name is Katie and I have been working on tall ships for the past year. I completed a 4000 nm journey up the east coast on a schooner and worked in San Fransisco on a brigantine this winter. I will be in Portland until October when I start work on another schooner on the east coast. I am looking to keep up my sailing skills this summer by continuing to sail as much as I can.

I have grown up with coastal and offshore sailing on 32ft-40ft boats in Hong Kong. Most of my competitive racing was in 29ers and Nacra F16/F18s. Raced collegiately in CFJs. I have completed numerous overnight races and open water races as well. Recently moved into the Portland area, and looking forward to get out on the water here!
