I am a relatively new sailor at sixty-six years young. We are members of WSC and sail a Day Sailer. I can be found most days during the summer on the water single handing our DS. I am up to speed on racing rules and wish to get some hours on a larger boat. I started tracking my hours and distance sailed since 2019 and have rung a total of 1,332 Nautical Miles since purchasing our dinghy in 2019.

Hi, I am hoping to get on a competitive boat for the Winter series and beyond. I have raced my own 32’ one design 5.5mR on Fern Ridge Lake for several years in a competitive one design fleet. I have raced in Portland in a couple of different boats flying both symmetrical and asymmetrical kites. I have raced in Puget sound on 6mR boats. I am comfortable in all positions including mainsail trim, spinnaker trim, helm, foredeck, mast and everything else. I would not classify myself as an expert though I am far from a beginner. Please give me a call if you are looking for a fill in person or if you have an open position on your boat.

I am looking for a competitive race boat and being part of a dedicated crew. I have all the gear and clothing for racing in the winter series. I have raced my own boat a 32’ one design in a competitive fleet on Fern Ridge for several years. I have also raced on various other boats on the Columbia and Puget sound including J boats, 6mR and others. I have done all the positions from mast to main sheet, fordeck to helm. I am a versatile sailer and would make a great addition to your crew. I am hesitant to call myself advanced as I know some amazing sailors though I am experienced and know my way around a racing boat. Until I find a permanent spot on a crew I am open to fill in in a pinch when a crew member is needed. Feel free to call me.

I have been recreationally sailing 4 years, mostly solo at Fern Ridge on modest keel boats, including my own Catalina 22. I completed the ASA 101-104 on the Columbia River and in the San Juans. I want to get more experience in all conditions (including crummy weather/Type II fun) and on bigger boats, with personal aspirations for coastal cruising in the Salish Sea and further north. I also have offshore ambitions.

I checked the “rail meat” box because I do not have race experience, just cruising experience and I am willing learn any position of racing.

I am based out of Corvallis and am a professor. I have a lot of flexibility with regard to my time and am willing to making reciprocal commitments. I come from a mountaineering/rock climbing/backpacking/mountain biking background and appreciate risk assessment under challenging conditions, and I have a healthy respect for the power of the water.

I took the beginner sailing class at Willamette a few years ago. Raced on a Flying Tiger 10 last year and a Merit 25 this year. Most commonly cockpit, foredeck, and jib trim. Only position I have minimal of is helm.

Looking primarily for opportunities to race Sail on Sundays. However, open to any cruising or racing otherwise.

Have a wide variety of experience on the Columbia filling most roles on a Merit 25 and Flying Tiger 10 over the last couple years.

Specifically looking at crewing on a boat for the Sail on Sunday series. However, have quite a bit of time on my hands at the moment so I'd be happy to do some cruising locally or regionally.

Hi everyone! New to Portland and looking to get involved in some more sailing. I grew up in White Salmon, WA where I spent many summer evenings at the Hood River Marina jumping on boats to crew the weekday regattas. I moved to Seattle for university in 2008 and crewed on a few boats for the regular Lake Union Duck Dodge. I also sailed for the UW race team one season and at the UW Yacht Club. In 2016 I moved to Bellingham, WA where I sailed all over the Puget Sound and Lake Whatcom. Super comfortable on the water and excited to connect with Portland sailors in whatever way I can be helpful!

I grew up sailing. I can often be found sailing my Catalina 25 on a lake by myself. I crewed this summer on a wavelength as foredeck, and on a lido. Last spring I crewed on a lightning as foredeck. I am looking to start doing some offshore sailing. Both cruising and racing.

New in town. I have some boating experience (including a summer working for a sportfishing guide in Alaska) and a long-term interest in cruising/liveaboard but no prior sailing experience. I'm in my mid-40s, in great shape, experienced outdoors, comfortable on the water, willing to commit to a crew, and excited to learn. Available as early as this evening (8/25).

I’m Will, 47, based in Vancouver, WA and available weekdays or weekends. I’ve logged years of cruising and race series experience on cats and 21–40 ft sailboats. Primarily looking for racing opportunities, but open to casual sails along the Columbia. Laid back yet competitive, I’m handy on board and know my knots.

Been sailing my whole life (28 years). Grew up on our family Catalina 25' and Hobie Cat/various dinghies. Started racing in 2014 on J boats, then raced at Michigan State University on 420s. Have done some multi-day/week cruising trips on a Freedom 30 and Catalina 36.

Very comfortable anywhere on a boat as well as single-handing on certain set-ups. I'm not really interested in racing anymore, but would love to connect with a cruiser who's looking for capable crew to go out and have fun - maybe enjoy some apps, a couple brews, and anchor off the beach. Day trips mostly, but also open to some excursions.

I sailed a few thousand miles singlehand on a contessa 26 from Anapolis Maryland to Key West Florida. I've never raced a sailboat, so I don't know the official rules or the positions but I can solo sail up to 35 foot boats in all sorts of weather. Looking to crew a bit and see what racing is like.

I have been sailing 37'-44' monohulls on Galveston Bay for the last 2 years, usually at least once a month. I've done both casual sails and regattas. I have ASA 101 and 118 certifications and have done focused skills sessions at least once a year. I recently crewed a 46' catamaran in the Mediterranean for 2 weeks.

Looking for crew opportunities during first half of August 2025 while I'm back in Portland for a bit.

I've worked on commercial fishing boats (purse seiners, eel boats, draggers)
I've also worked on 200' cargo ships for month long trips from Seattle to Dutch Harbor and St. Paul Island.
I know my knots, I know seamanship. Very safety oriented. Just new to sails.

I'm a 46-year-old high school teacher living in Portland.

I have my ASA 101 through 104. And I have done some extended coastal cruising. But it's been a few years.

I'm hoping to get out regularly crewing boats with the long-term goal of owning my own boat.

Let me know if I can come crew your boat. Thanks for considering!

I just graduated from Webb Institute this June. I studied Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. I got to sail on classic sailboats and cruise/race on several keelboats with NEKA sailing in New York with a variety of different crews. I am still relatively new to sailing because I only started over the past 4 years of college and mainly did so recreationally, but would like to continue to gain experience and become a part of the sailing community in Portland now that I am moving back home to work in the maritime industry. I have good engineering knowledge and generally have a good sense of the water and how to sail but am looking to learn more!

Hi! I am 21 and am looking to crew on a boat (or boats) where I can be out on the water as much as possible!

I have experience racing Dinghies and Lasers and for the past 6 years have been sailing a Newport 30 regularly, trying out all the different positions and skills on board. While I have sailed quite a bit, I have only ever learned from people who are also beginners, so I do not know all the terminology needed to be an effective crew member.

I am hoping to learn as much as possible, meet cool people, and be a helpful and attentive crew member!
