I took the beginner sailing class at Willamette a few years ago. Raced on a Flying Tiger 10 last year and a Merit 25 this year. Most commonly cockpit, foredeck, and jib trim. Only position I have minimal of is helm.
Looking primarily for opportunities to race Sail on Sundays. However, open to any cruising or racing otherwise.

Have a wide variety of experience on the Columbia filling most roles on a Merit 25 and Flying Tiger 10 over the last couple years.
Specifically looking at crewing on a boat for the Sail on Sunday series. However, have quite a bit of time on my hands at the moment so I'd be happy to do some cruising locally or regionally.

Little experience, but looking to gain it. Happy to do what's needed. Trying to meet other sailors. I have a 15 foot Chrysler Mutineer which I have sailed a couple times. Other than that, I have a Bermudan-style sail rig for my kayak that I have used quite a bit this past 6-months.

Hi everyone! New to Portland and looking to get involved in some more sailing. I grew up in White Salmon, WA where I spent many summer evenings at the Hood River Marina jumping on boats to crew the weekday regattas. I moved to Seattle for university in 2008 and crewed on a few boats for the regular Lake Union Duck Dodge. I also sailed for the UW race team one season and at the UW Yacht Club. In 2016 I moved to Bellingham, WA where I sailed all over the Puget Sound and Lake Whatcom. Super comfortable on the water and excited to connect with Portland sailors in whatever way I can be helpful!

I grew up sailing. I can often be found sailing my Catalina 25 on a lake by myself. I crewed this summer on a wavelength as foredeck, and on a lido. Last spring I crewed on a lightning as foredeck. I am looking to start doing some offshore sailing. Both cruising and racing.

New in town. I have some boating experience (including a summer working for a sportfishing guide in Alaska) and a long-term interest in cruising/liveaboard but no prior sailing experience. I'm in my mid-40s, in great shape, experienced outdoors, comfortable on the water, willing to commit to a crew, and excited to learn. Available as early as this evening (8/25).

I’m Will, 47, based in Vancouver, WA and available weekdays or weekends. I’ve logged years of cruising and race series experience on cats and 21–40 ft sailboats. Primarily looking for racing opportunities, but open to casual sails along the Columbia. Laid back yet competitive, I’m handy on board and know my knots.

Been sailing my whole life (28 years). Grew up on our family Catalina 25' and Hobie Cat/various dinghies. Started racing in 2014 on J boats, then raced at Michigan State University on 420s. Have done some multi-day/week cruising trips on a Freedom 30 and Catalina 36.
Very comfortable anywhere on a boat as well as single-handing on certain set-ups. I'm not really interested in racing anymore, but would love to connect with a cruiser who's looking for capable crew to go out and have fun - maybe enjoy some apps, a couple brews, and anchor off the beach. Day trips mostly, but also open to some excursions.

I sailed a few thousand miles singlehand on a contessa 26 from Anapolis Maryland to Key West Florida. I've never raced a sailboat, so I don't know the official rules or the positions but I can solo sail up to 35 foot boats in all sorts of weather. Looking to crew a bit and see what racing is like.

I have been sailing 37'-44' monohulls on Galveston Bay for the last 2 years, usually at least once a month. I've done both casual sails and regattas. I have ASA 101 and 118 certifications and have done focused skills sessions at least once a year. I recently crewed a 46' catamaran in the Mediterranean for 2 weeks.
Looking for crew opportunities during first half of August 2025 while I'm back in Portland for a bit.

I've worked on commercial fishing boats (purse seiners, eel boats, draggers)
I've also worked on 200' cargo ships for month long trips from Seattle to Dutch Harbor and St. Paul Island.
I know my knots, I know seamanship. Very safety oriented. Just new to sails.

I have my ASA 101 through 104. And I have done some extended coastal cruising. But it's been a few years.
I'm hoping to get out regularly crewing boats with the long-term goal of owning my own boat.
Let me know if I can come crew your boat. Thanks for considering!

I just graduated from Webb Institute this June. I studied Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. I got to sail on classic sailboats and cruise/race on several keelboats with NEKA sailing in New York with a variety of different crews. I am still relatively new to sailing because I only started over the past 4 years of college and mainly did so recreationally, but would like to continue to gain experience and become a part of the sailing community in Portland now that I am moving back home to work in the maritime industry. I have good engineering knowledge and generally have a good sense of the water and how to sail but am looking to learn more!

Started sailing in college on z420s and FJs before moving on to sailing mostly on a J/105 out of Lakewood Yacht Club as well as a J/100 in the LI Sound and Ensign in Austin. Willing to learn foredeck under a more experienced sailor and interested in sailing anything that gets me on the water!

Hi! I am 21 and am looking to crew on a boat (or boats) where I can be out on the water as much as possible!
I have experience racing Dinghies and Lasers and for the past 6 years have been sailing a Newport 30 regularly, trying out all the different positions and skills on board. While I have sailed quite a bit, I have only ever learned from people who are also beginners, so I do not know all the terminology needed to be an effective crew member.
I am hoping to learn as much as possible, meet cool people, and be a helpful and attentive crew member!

I'm a 38 y/o adult who enjoys spending time outdoors. I've been sailing small boats for about 5 years with beer can races in Marina del Rey (LA) and Lake Bde Maka ska (Minnneapolis). I've taken my ASA 101/103/104 in Portland last year and am looking to get more experience on cruising boats before boat ownership. I have a pretty open availability currently and would love to join as crew if there are opportunities.

Passionate about the water and actively building my sailing experience, particularly in cruising and boat delivery. I’m a certified Water Safety Instructor and hold ASA 101, 103, and 104 certifications. My goal is to gain hands-on experience with longer passages and ultimately participate in blue water sailing. Though I’m new to sailing, the waters have always whispered to me. I bring a steady presence, a willingness to learn, and a deep respect for teamwork and timing.
Whether as rail weight, assisting in the pit, or simply doing what’s needed with grace,
I’m ready to show up fully—body, mind, and spirit.
I move intuitively, learn quickly, and carry a calm attentiveness to detail. Thank you for the chance to grow alongside your crew—I’m here to listen, learn, and earn my place on deck. Cheers!~ Fae

Hi, I'm Peter. My only sailing experience is with my Laser that I picked up in spring of 2023. I have had a blast learning on it over the summers and am interested in getting more experience sailing on a wider variety of boats as well as meeting other people in the sailing community! I'm open to pretty much anything and interested in weekly weeknight events or semi-regular weekend events.

32 years old and have been competitively sailing for 10 or so years. Sailed on Molika and several variations of Geronimo before relocating to Florida. Raced there for several years and now we are back in the area.
I have done all positions, but I am most familiar with head sail trimming - mostly on asymmetricals.
I would like to find a competitive yet friendly boat to race in the Tuesday summer series. Please let me know if you have any questions!

I have mostly sailed on 4–8 person boats but am open to bigger and smaller. I have done a little bit of everything but would like low stakes jobs to start off. 🙂 I just want to get out on the water and meet cool people. I sailed as a kid but have had limited experiences since then. I’m interested in starting off cruising but open to racing once I get my sea legs back.

It has been a long time since I've sailed and I would like to get back into it. I have owned and sailed 3 boats: 1) a Dunhill (a 16' English dinghy), 2) a Laser 2 and 3) a 32'Catalina. Have done some racing but, for the most part, I've been a casual sailor. I classify myself as a beginner who is eager to learn more about this wonderful sport.

I have been a foredecker, but not flying a spinnaker (although this is what I am most interested in helping with). I would rather not drive to Hayden island, it is a bit much after work. Hello! My name is Max, and while my sailing experience is limited, I would love any opportunity to learn more and spend time on the water. My specific sailing experience includes sailing camp when I was little, a one week sailing trip around the San Juan islands (in which I was a crew member), and lots of kiteboarding (if that counts). Additionally, I am very fit, a hard worker, will follow orders, and am easy going. I also love to run, hike, bike, ski, and surf. I hope to hear from you and help crew your boat!

28 year old man, been sailing/racing since I was 12. Most relevantly, I was foredeck for a J/80 crew doing a lot of match racing. I've also crewed (various positions) on a range of keel boats. I've also been a sailing instructor (youth and adult) for yacht clubs in the Gulf South, the Caribbean, and Europe.
Interested in match racing and one design fleet racing. Very new to the Pacific northwest.

I raced my Hunter 34 for ten seasons on the Columbia before reluctantly selling her three years ago. I now have a Leopard 454 in charter with Sunsail in the British Virgin Islands. Over the last 20 years I have had over 100 individuals crew with me (as skipper) bareboating in such places as Croatia, Turkey, Greece, French Polynesia, Belize, Sea of Cortez, and throughout the Caribbean. On the Columbia I have crewed on various boats racing for the last 20 years. With my many years of experience both racing as well as cruising, I feel confident in helping out on any position as a compatable crew member.

But never have sailed it. I have crewed in Greece 3 times with my German family. I have ASA cert 101, 103 and 104. Would love to join a captain this summer to learn the wind and current of the river. I'm easy going and get along with anyone. - Jim

I have been sailing a few times many years ago. Once in the Bahamas, where most of my sailing knowledge comes from, which is not very much. I am an incredibly quick learner and would be excited to get on the water in whatever capacity someone needed.

I’m am 68 years old and have been sailing since my teens. I learned to sail as a crew member on an Islander 30 on San Francisco Bay and have experience sailing Hobie Cats (14 and 16s) and Lasers, mainly at Huntington Lake in California. Most sailing in recent years has been recreational, in small boats. I moved to Portland four years ago and have not sailed here.

It's been handful of years since I've been on the water, but I have plenty of coastal single-hand cruising experience, passage making, and some dinghy racing. Looking to crew on anything and everything between racing on the Columbia to offshore sailing.
Really excited about being back on the water regularly.

Over the past four years, I have gone coastal sailing four times through FindACrew.net, totaling about 20 days.
I absolutely love sailing and want to expand my technical knowledge to become a more skilled crew member. I’m detail-oriented, physically capable, and passionate about everything sailing has to offer.

Grew up living at the Oregon Yacht Club in Sellwood where we owned two single-hull sailboats and one catamaran. Attended a sailing-heavy summer camp on Orcas Island in the San Juan Islands (https://fourwindscamp.org/) for seven years growing up. Raced Hobiecat 16's on the Columbia River while in high school. Worked as a professional deckhand on The Pride of Baltimore II (https://pride2.org/) and sailed a seven month journey through the Mediterranean Sea, North Sea, down the Northern African coastline to the Canary Islands, across the Atlantic Ocean, through the Caribbean Sea and up the Atlantic Seaboard from Puerto Rico to Baltimore.

Would love to join a crew for some offshore racing. I currently skipper a J24 with the Island Sailing Club. I’ve been racing consistently for the past 3 years and been sailing for most of my life. I’m certified with my ASA 101,103 and 104 courses. I’m taking the Safety at Sea (SAS) course on 2/23/25. I also worked at Rodger’s Marine for a stint, so I’m versed in boat electronics and mechanics.
Feel free to reach out. Would love to talk sailing with you!!

Rather new to sailing but not the water. Have passed my 101 class no problem. I can't wait to get out on the water again. Planning to purchas a larger vessel within the next 5 years. But until then I am open to it all. I am a valuable person that is quick thinking and willing to listen and have never been afraid to learn something new or in different way. I have done many different types of marine repairs from fiberglass to engine work. Best contact at the moment is email gtollefsonpdx@gmail.com and second by phone 503-245-8502

I’ve completed ASA 101 & 103. Scheduled for 104 this spring. I’m fit, agile and motivated. I have a flexible schedule and can crew during the work week or weekends. Would love to get out on 40’ ish yachts in anticipation of purchasing my own in the next few years. I have foul weather gear.

2yrs new to PDX, moved from NYC. Member of Orienta Yacht Club, Mamaroneck, NY, where I learned to sail and race an ‘87 Benetaeu First 235 I had at the time.
Hoping to get back on the water this coming season, make some new friends, become a better sailor, and maybe find a boat of my own again.

Hello,
My name is Panya. I’m a former high school dinghy racer who is attending college in Portland. I’d love to race or cruise and practice sailing. I love racing and have been racing dinghy’s since tenth grade but my experience on larger boats is somewhat limited (a couple races here and there on thunderbirds and once on a schooner). I would definitely need a little training but I will pick it up quick!
If anyone needs a crew for dinghy sailing too I’d love to race dinghies (have previously raced fjs 420s and 29ers) - Darrell

I am looking to be part of a competitive and established crew and a well run boat. I have several year’s experience racing and have experience in all positions. I’m probably a little more experienced than the intermediate level that I put down though those are ambiguous terms. I have crewed on 6 metre, 5.5 metre, J-105, Flying Tiger 10M as well as others. I race my own boat, a 5.5 metre with a crew of three to four in a competitive one design fleet on Fern Ridge Lake in the summer months on Wednesday evenings.
I am interested in both one design and offshore racing. I am self employed and can take time off to do one design regattas or offshore races such as Pacific Northwest Offshore and Swiftsure. The captain I have been sailing with has decided to retire from racing recently so I’m looking for another boat. Feel free to contact me and let’s talk. - Greg

Dying to get on the water again! Cold water doesn't scare me. I'm willing and eager to learn what's needed. I pick things up quickly and very competitive. I have taken ASA101 and live for more input! My better half is also eager to go racing she has the same drive to be rail meat!!

I recently moved to Portland and I am looking for opportunities to sail. I would like to join a crew for any racing or cruising.
My racing experience is from racing on Yaquina Bay in Newport Oregon. I've raced regularly on a Beneteau First 27 and a Wilderness 21. Most of my racing experience is either double handed or with 3 people. I have experience running symmetrical and asymmetrical spinnakers.
I recently finished a 4 month solo trip cruising my Cape Dory 28 from Olympia up to Petersburg Alaska.
I also have experience installing/diagnosing marine electronics and autopilots.

Things to consider.
I love sailing.
I'll be 75 this coming February.
I haven't crewed for a very long time. The last time was in the late 1970's.
Up until about a year ago I sailed a Hobiecat 18.
I will have to equip myself if chosen. - Gillian

Hi! I have little to no sailing experience but have been yearning to learn to sail since forever and it's the perfect time in my life to make my dream come true. I am an extremely fast learner and am able to help with any task needed. I work great under pressure and can guarantee after a week or two ill have everything down and do it flawlessly!

I have experience on the following classes of sailboats: J44, J105, Figaro 2. (A few weekends sailing a laser over the winter.)
I was on the offshore sailing team in college competing in regattas across Long Island sound. As well in Annapolis at the Naval Academy against teams from across the country.
I am interested in crewing on vessels and learning new skills. Also networking and meeting new people.

Hi there, I'm looking for a spot on a Sailing on Sundays boat for this "off season season". I can make most days except right around the December holidays, rain, shine or sleet (although if the decks are icy I may bow out!). I'm pretty happy on the water, be it a drift race or 10g25.
I've been sailing on the Columbia and occasionally the Sound for 6 years off and on, and racing about half that. I've done Sailing on Sundays both winter and summer versions, and both Tuesday and Thursday races as time permitted. Boats I've raced on ranged from 24 to 40', and I feel like I'm getting better at most things including spinnaker trim. My remaining challenges are spinnaker takedowns and calling puffs consistently, but I'm working on it.
I'm also gearing up to start racing my own boat, so I'm interested in all aspects of crewing.
