There’s no frost on the pumpkin nor any chill in the air, but Sailing on Sundays for 21 Sundays over the fall, winter, and spring will be here before you can say, “Pumpkin Spice.” We’re lucky we get to sail through the winter here in Portland as opposed to, say, Chicago where they’re already making arrangements to put their boats on the hard in a month or so. Yeah, we get some rain and we have to cancel a date or two in January or February for ice on the deck, but overall it’s a pretty good deal if you prefer being on the water in a competition rather than doing yard work raking leaves. You know my preference.
So, registration is open. The signup.com link is also there for race committee duty for which you get first place the week you volunteer. The first race is September 24, which is the week after the Robert A. Smith regatta and which you should also consider registering for as a tuneup for SoS.
That’s it for now.
See you on the river,
Denny Damore
