OCSA Tropical Awards Party
Please join the Oregon Corinthian Sailing Association to celebrate the 2022 Racing Season. Everyone is welcome! Feel free to invite landlubber friends and kin. The OCSA Tropical Awards Party will be held Saturday, Oct. 22nd, 5-10 pm at the Portland Yacht Club. Share all your sailing stories after a 3-year Covid delay. The evening includes cocktails, a chef’s special Hawaiian Buffet (veggie, vegan, and meat entrees), awards, and dancing. The bars will be open to purchase extra drinks and, for you OR State & U of O fans, the game will be playing on the big screen in the PYC bar!

Dress Code: Tropical.
Reservations deadline: Saturday, October 8.
2022 OCSA Awards Nominations
All sailors are welcome to submit nominations. OCSA membership is not required to nominate. By submitting nominations, you are entered into a drawing for a Free Ticket to the Tropical Awards Party. The winner will be reimbursed at the party.
- GOOD TIMES: The sailor who always seems to have had the most infectious good time
- WELCOME SLOUGH: A new sailor who has put forth extra effort to be involved in the sailing community
- US SAILING SPORTSMANSHIP: Awarded to the individual who has exhibited corinthian sportsmanship both on and off the water
- SAILOR OF THE YEAR: This trophy is for the individual that has gone beyond the call of duty in their contributions to the sailing community

Volunteers Needed for the Tropical Awards Party
Help trim the sails for the Tropical Awards Party! Simply send your email marked “VOL.” to the OCSA Commodore. Volunteer crew descriptions will come to your email in the next few days for you to decide. As Party Crew, collaborate with the sailing community while you decorate, check in guests, pre-plan or just send your email in to be surprised with what opportunities are on the list!
OCSA Participation and Performance Trophy
One Regatta – the PYC Robert A Smith – remains to sail, which also counts for the OCSA Participation and Performance Trophy. The OCSA Participation and Performance Trophy is awarded to the boat entering and doing outstandingly well in selected races. First presented in 1980; but due to the pandemic, it has not been presented since 2019. For more info on this Regatta, check below.

Small Yacht Sailing Club of Oregon (SYSCO)
SYSCO 2022 One-Design Race
September 17, 2022 / Saturday 1300 hr
INVITATION: September is a great month for sailing on the Columbia River and all one-design SYSCO sailors are invited to join in a one-day competition.
DESCRIPTION: These races will be short 20-30 minute races for the one-design classes. A minimum of 3 boats is required to constitute a one-design class. The Race Committee will try to get 3-5 races in on Saturday afternoon, September 17. One-design classes include Ranger-20, Cal-20, J-24, Catalina-22, Marin 24, Melges 24, Merit-25, J-105, and other one-design classes.
FEES: Free for SYSCO members. $30 for non-members and associate members

Corinthian Yacht Club of Oregon (CYC)
SAILING ON SUNDAYS
September 18 – March 5 /1300 hours each Sunday
INVITATION: This is a “for fun” race series on the Columbia River. New sailors and racers are especially encouraged to join.
DESCRIPTION: This is a multiple-week series with one race scheduled each Sunday. This casual race series was started as an excuse for sailors to get out on the water through the winter months. The event has attracted a variety of racers and cruisers who all share a desire for sailing and light-hearted competition.
REGISTRATION AND FEES: $50 entry fee to help defray the cost of Regatta Network fees. All competitors are expected to volunteer on Race Committee for one Sunday in the series.
INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS: Amendments or supplements to the NOR and race results shall be posted on the SailPDX Notice Board. Other information and communications shall be posted on the Sailing on Sunday Google Group. For questions or more information, email the CYC Race Captain.
Portland Yacht Club (PYC)
Robert A. Smith Regatta
October 1 and 2 / Saturday and Sunday 1300 hr
DESCRIPTION: A two-day regatta with at least two races scheduled each day. This is a qualifier for the OCSA Participation and Performance Trophy.
REGISTRATION: Eligible boats may enter online on the SailPDX Notice Board. The registration deadline shall be 1800 hours local time on the day before the first scheduled race of the regatta. For planning purposes, please note on the registration the approximate number of your crew and guests who will be purchasing dinner for the Sunday dinner.
FEES: The early entry fee is $35.00 if paid 72 or more hours prior to the registration deadline. The entry fee will be $40.00 if paid less than 72 hours prior to the registration deadline.
