*** Update on the invisible Gleason Street Wing Dam ***
Jeffrey Henon, Public Affairs Specialist for the Portland District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Corp), today sent notification that Congress appropriated necessary funding for this fiscal year, which now allows repairs to be made to the wing dam located near the Gleason Street boat ramp on the Columbia River.
As a result, the Corp will solicit bids for contractors to perform the work, make a decision, then wait until an appropriate in-water work window opens that ensures the protection of salmon. Scheduled repairs are currently slated for November 2019.
To Gary Bruner, past OCSA Commodore, who began spearheading these efforts over 1 year ago to replace the missing dolphin, and to all those who submitted letters in support, your voice was heard and made a positive difference. On behalf of the entire boating community, we THANK YOU!
